After much discussion and debate, the Detroit City Council has decided to move our neighborhood from District 2 to District 3. This decision was made during their meeting on February 6, where they voted in favor of "Option 6," the last requested council redistricting map option that creates the least amount of change while still meeting the redistricting requirements for population distribution.
While we are disappointed that our neighborhood will no longer be a part of District 2, we understand that the new districts will take effect on January 1, 2026, after new city council members have been elected based on the new districts in November 2025.
We want to assure you that we fought hard to remain in District 2 and voiced our opposition to being removed during public hearings and other meetings. However, the decision has been made, and we must now look forward to working with our new council members in District 3.
We will keep you updated on any further developments and encourage you to stay informed and engaged in the process. If you have any questions or concerns, below you will find contact information for districts 2 and 3.

The solar panel project proposed for Grixdale Farms has been cancelled due to a lack of support from residents. Despite efforts to engage the community and address concerns, the city ultimately decided not to move forward with the project.
The decision was made after a thorough evaluation of the project's feasibility and impact on the neighborhood. While some residents expressed interest in the project's potential benefits, such as reduced energy costs and increased property values, others raised concerns about its potential drawbacks, including aesthetics and potential negative impact on property values.
Ultimately, the city determined that there was not enough support among neighborhood residents to justify moving forward with the project. As a result, the solar panel project in Grixdale Farms will not be happening.
